News Sources

For this assignment, i had a look at one of BBC's news at 6 reports with a total of 5 stories and 2 sub stories. Also they took a look at the weather but i wont concentrate on that.

The first story was the big one of the week which had the two sub stories underneath. This was about the Funeral, the reaction of the British public that went to show there respects/protest and the reactions of everyone around the UK of the recently deceased prime minister Margret Thatcher. This section lasted 15 minutes and was obviously the biggest story of the week.
This story was on every news channel in England and probably a few over the rest of the world. This is because Margret Thatcher was probably the most memorable after Winston Churchill. She did so much for the country. It is because she relates so much to what this country is and what the country has become that her funeral is on the news. When they turned to the British public, the values turned more to conflict between opinions of the the public.
The Funeral itself was in the morning so all the souse probably came from the reporters that were there at the time. They could see who made the speeches. All of the other information would of come from the coverage of the funeral that aired earlier that day. The sourses for the British public would of come from them theirselfs with interviews and talking to people who are at the events.

The next story came fromt he other side of the world in America. This was a story about someone sending a letter the Presedent Obama which came through with traces of poision on it.
I think the values fall under scandle as well as being able to compress the story into a quick 3 minute slot. People like hearing it as it is intense and scary but it would be a bit to bland to read
The only sourses this come of come from are goverment departments and police departments. They are the only people that would have the information.

The next story staying in America are the Boston Bombings. This story released information and a small clip about the two explosives that went off at the boston marathon.
Value wise, this falls straight under danger in the comunity, hard news but most of all, a strong visual image. Putting a clip of the bomb go off in a public place is a bold image and will keep views watching to find out more also feeding human nature for wanting to see the worst.
The news report was focused on technical elements of the bombing like how it was planted and what the bombs were made out of. This means that the scorses must of come from police and goverment scourses who had agreed that the reletive information could go out.

Coming back to england now with a small quick story about how unemployment is still on the rise all over the UK.
This is definatly hardship in the comunity as everyone is effected with jobs running low.
All this information will have come from goverment polls, trade unions, companies and various other places.
