Initial planning

Synopsis - Hopton Beach, can you Sea it?
Hopton beach is disappearing. Hopton itself is slowly falling into the sea! Caravans are being moved, and Potters holiday resort is in danger! This documentary will give a insight into the past, looking at how the coast line was and how busy Hopton beach was. Looking at the present, having a look at what is left of the beach now, if you can still class it as a beach. Lastly the Future, taking a look at other villages that are in a worse shape than Hopton and see what they have done to stop the predicted death of the village.
The primary target audience will be people who live near the coast. The situation in Hopton was only due to people neglecting the shore line and not have thing the proper measures in place. It will encourage them to take up arms and be ready just in case there village starts to fall into the sea. A secondary target will be Norfolk County Council who are in control of the money that will protect the shore line. Hopefully they will see that our village doesn't have long left before residential homes are in danger.
The real purpose of the documentary is to inform and educate people of what could happen if they don't take action. Homes would be lost, people will have to move right away from the coast line and businesses would go out of order.
The documentary will be a naturalistic piece with a time line biased story line. There is no point in making it funny or comical because people wont take it seriously. We want to be able to shock people enough to take action and look into the chaos that is happening just outside there comfortable houses.
The only constraint in filming this documentary would be getting someone who knows a lot about the coast time to interview. It is a local community how ever and people are more than happy to answer questions for a college piece. I can hire all the equipment from the college but i will need to see if there is a bus to other villages so i can get footage of their coast line.
Key Elements for Documentary
  1. There was a meeting about the coast line when a larger than normal piece of the cliff collapsed into the sea. I need to see if there was any video footage i can get hold of or if i can get the notes from the meting
  2. I need to get footage/pictures of about 20 years ago if not more when the village was busier and the coastline had a large beach with lots of people on it.
  3. I need to get footage/pictures of the beach as it is at the moment. How the cliff is falling in and the state of the beach at the moment.
  4. I need to get footage/pictures of a beach that is really at risk even more that Hopton so i can show everyone what could happen.
  5. I need to get a interview with some professional or someone who knows what they are talking about within the subject of the coast. I will contact Gardline, a company that has professionals that knows what they are talking about with the coast line and they may even have pictures i can get permission to use.
  6. I am going to get local people's views and how it is effecting them in the village. Try to get a interview with someone at the holiday camp or Potters leisure resort
