Depict! assignment production diary

4th october
Today we had a discussion with each othe to try and come up with some sort of idea.

After coming up with four different ideas, we are starting to focus on a idea of a homeless man sitting on the street with a business man walking pass. Through the video, the posisions of the charactors will change and the same scene will happen with the once business man sitting on the street and he homeless gentelman giving him money.

No formal decision has been made!

5th october
Today we finialised on a idea of a tramp becoming famous and a rich guy becomng poor. They will swap roals and shoes as the title surgests "Swapping Shoes".

Next time, we will be discussing locations, props, costume and charactors to start filming some time after.

8th october
Today we started to create our shot list. Over all we came up with some really good ideas for the different shots like creating a whole scene on a POV view.

We managed to finish the shot list in the second lesson and started drawing up the story bored. me manages to complete the first shots.

Next time, we shall be finishing the story boredand hopefully preparing prop lists, costume and anything else we need to start the filming of the preduction.

9th october
Today we managed to complete the whole of the story bored to perfection. we ended p with 17 shots in about 24 frames. All the times add up to just under 90 seconds so that leaves us time to do some credits and a title

I have managed to create a prop list that we will need.

We have two willing people to star in our performance. Chris will be playing "Suit" and Ryan will be playing "Tramp". We are filming locally and they also have the lessons off that we plan to film so it shouldn't cause much trouble.

In the next session, we need to finialise our locations, make sure we can get all the props to film on the 11th of october.

10th october
Today we researched and found all of our locations for the shoots and we also took pictures of the places of where we wanted to film.

We filled in a risk assessment of the outdoor and indoor filming. It included situations form falling on the floor to water problems to getting in the publics way.

We had to send a email to Gorleston police to let them know we will be shooting in a area of Gorleston.
Here is that letter

Dear*******,

We are BTex Media Students at East Norfolk Sixth Form college and we are intending to film a short piece at the a at the following locations at the end of next week:

Iceland car park (If we receive permission)
The green area near Middleton Gardens
Pathway near the river (Close to Morrisons)

There will only be three of us in our group and we would only expect to be filming for a short while at each location. Our teachers have asked us to inform you of this, as a courtesy, as part of our health and safety preparations for our first project. In future, we will only contact you if our shooting involves more personnel or is in a more sensitive or crowded area.

Yours Sincerely

Lewis Lacey
Alex Ouaddane
Matt Webb

11th October
Today our group went to our first shooting locations with all our props, camera, crew and cast.

Although it was a little hard to direct the cast, i think we got great shots that will work very well in the in the video.

The place we were shooting looked excellent and went really well with what we were doing.

12th October
Today we couldn't film as we didn't have our cast but we did manage to start to get the beginning of the video together on the editing

We plan to keep on getting the editing done for the next days filming.

15th/16th October
Today, we couldn't film with out actors because they couldn't come in at the time we wanted to film. To make sure we hit the deadlines, we scraped the actors and used people in our group to film. This seemed to work really well because for one, we all ready knew all the scenes so we didn't have to teach them to anyone and two, it went a lot quicker because we all knew what we wanted from the film itself.

We managed we do all the filming in the 2 days which was quicker than what we were going to do with our actors so we taught yourself a important lesson!

We also tidied up our folders on the computers as we had a lot of files that we didn't want.

17th October
Today, We completed all the transitions between our clips, added titles and credits. We also played around with colour editing on our videos and we think we want to use the effect but are not quite sure what we like the look of.

19th October
Today, we sorted the colour on the videos and have given it a cold rusty effect.

We have also started to develop some music on Garage Band. It is a really easy piece of software which is made easier with Lewis's music knowledge. It is not quite finished yet so we hope to finish it after the weekend

23rd October
Today, we finished our music on time and it works extreamly well with our video and we are proud with it

24th October
Today, our project was exported to our teacher who has managed to put it up on youtube!
